With Bourne near the top and Vale near the bottom the home side were looking to play well to avoid defeat. However, with an emphatic cup win last week a rejuvenated Vale took the game to the reds.
A visiting defender was booked for kicking the ball away after only six minutes. This desparate action set the tone for the game.
The play ebbed to and fro with Bourne looking quite ordinary and Vale keeping up in ebullient mood. They gave the impression that they could win this game, but it wasn't until the 42nd min that they took the lead.
After the break Vale stormed into the visitors half only to meet with some determined strong defending. The keeper was also on a roll and he made three outstanding saves to deny Pewsey.
The Bourne attack was now non existant and it was up to Pewsey to break down the well organised defence. The Pewsey centre forward looked like his old self as he started to use his pace with some thoughtful diagonal runs, some selfish dribbles into the box and some useful wide passes to involve the flankers.
These new tactics gradually broke up the solid defence and Pewsey scored two more goals late on to give them a fine unexpected, but well deserved 3-0 home win.
These valuable points should now raise the confidence level.
The referee did well to limit the bookings to a total of four.
