Cadbury Heath v Westbury United

Nice to be back in it again on a lovely sunny warm afternoon. Is it really November? Slowly us referees are moving into the age of technology as the referee supplied "buzzer" flags to be used. If he should miss a flag then it is possible to press the button and the receiver on his arm gives him a jolt.
Turned out a good young referee who didn't miss much anyway, and I used the buzzer only twice through the game!!
Heathens won the toss and elected to play up the slope giving Westbury the slight advantage of creating something down the slope. They didn't disappoint us, and began forcing the home side onto the back foot.
As they pressed forward Heath tried to catch them on the break and did manage to net the ball. This first effort was ruled out because of an offside but Westbury had to change tactics and employ a deep sweeper.
As they built their attacks the pressure became intense. A player from each side was cautioned for late tackles as the pace built up and the visitors netted twice in quick order on 35 and 38 minutes.
Heath fought back to get a goal of their own just before half time.
Now with Heathens down the hill they swung into action and levelled in the very first minute of the second half. Another 18 minutes and the home side took the lead.
Westbury tried everything with three more players going in the book as they fought desperately for a point. It wasn't to be, and Heath took the honours 3-2 with a fine fighting comeback.
A referee assessor had been having a look at the three officials and luckily gave us a good report.
