Winterbourne United v Headington Amateurs

Quite a cold day threatening rain which stayed off until the journey home. What a downpour!
Three officials with a total of 177 years. Geriatric assistants ltd! Flag to be laced onto a white stick and free digital hearing aids when you collect your pension. Match sponsored by "Help The Aged".
We discovered after the game that we were termed good.
Bourne got us started nice and early and looked to attack and force the issue. They unfortunately met some stiff resistance and were repelled constantly, even having to defend for long periods. After 17 mins however they forced in the first goal to take a lead and relax a bit.
Honours remained even up to half time and Bourne were now attacking up the slope.
Throwing numbers forward they managed to get the ball into the net again only for the scorer to be ruled offside.
The home crowd got edgy as reds were caught offside on several attacks but Amateurs kept men forward to limit the severity of the Bourne forwards.
This tactic paid off after 80 mins when blues got a thoroughly deserved equaliser.
This livened up the remaining time, with Bourne pressing for another lead. They always say a team is at its most vulnerable just after scoring. And so it turned out. Bourne went into the lead again on 82 mins and kept the visitors out until the final whistle.
A fitting end to one of the few games played. As we trooped off the rain started again.
